The restaurant

What is Nestico’s?

Nestico’s is a Venezuelan restaurant founded by Ada Bozo in Maracaibo, Venezuela. She created the recipes our family has been cooking for over forty years — arepas, patacones, tequeños, cachapas and empanadas. Today we serve them in Maracaibo, in Orlando, Florida (Sand Lake) and in Katy, Texas — our Katy location is a franchise operated by our franchisees. El sabor de lo mejor.

Where are Nestico’s locations?

We have three locations: Nestico’s Maracaibo — Av. 12 con C/2, Local 52-130, Sector La Paragua, Maracaibo, Venezuela; Nestico’s Sand Lake — 3042 W. Sand Lake Road, Unit B, Orlando, FL 32819, (407) 984-0472; and Nestico’s Katy — 900 Katy Fort Bend Rd, Katy, TX 77494, (346) 205-2295.

What are your hours?

Sand Lake: Monday 4–10 PM; Tuesday–Thursday 11:30 AM–10 PM; Friday 11:30 AM–11 PM; Saturday noon–11 PM; Sunday noon–10 PM. Katy: Sunday–Thursday 11 AM–10 PM; Friday–Saturday 11 AM–12 AM.

No reservations needed — walk-ins are always welcome. Coming with a large group? Just call the location ahead to let us know.

The menu

What is an arepa?

An arepa is a round cornmeal cake — deep-fried until crispy or grilled until golden, your choice — stuffed with fillings like slow-roasted pork (pernil), juicy steak, shredded beef, chicken, white cheese (queso de mano) or fried cheese. It’s naturally gluten-free and it’s Venezuela’s most iconic dish.

What are the most popular dishes at Nestico’s?

Our most ordered plates: the Pork Arepa (slow-roasted pernil with melted cheese), Steak Arepa, Patacones (twice-fried green plantain with shredded beef and our house mayo sauce), Jumbo Cheese Sticks (tequeños, made with white cheese), Cachapas (sweet-corn pancake folded around white cheese / queso de mano) and Empanadas (beef, chicken or cheese, made fresh every morning).

Are your arepas fried or grilled?

You choose. Our arepas can be deep-fried (crispy) or grilled (asada) — both come loaded with your filling.

Do you have gluten-free options?

Yes. Arepas, cachapas, patacones and empanadas are made with corn, so they’re gluten-free by ingredients. (Our kitchen also handles wheat products, so ask us if you have an allergy.)

Do you have vegetarian options?

Yes — cheese arepas, cheese empanadas, cheese cachapas and cheese patacones. Ask us and we’ll build your plate meat-free.
